Mythic items were added some seasons ago, changing up the item build paths for all champions within the game. But after a couple of reworks and a couple years to adjust, some League of Legends players are coming together to voice their disdain for the item system.
“They have been around for 2.5 seasons and I feel like they didn’t add anything,” one player posted on Reddit.
“Riot have already reverted or reintroduced half of the items they changed with the Item rework. So I feel like they should go the final step and just remove the mythic item class.”

This post has since become a forum for discussing Mythic items, quickly gaining traction within the community.
One player adds that even Riot wasn’t “really happy with the mythic rework and it’s possible they will revert it.” They refer to a podcast where Riot Phroxzon discusses the predicament, linked below.
There’s a slim probability of Riot actually reverting changes. It’s simply not the way they go about updating their game, as they always attempt to move forward rather than take steps backwards. This rings especially true for big system changes.
Of course, not all players agree with the original post. One player believes Mythic items are practically the same as the previous item additions, and goes into depth elaborating.
“This basically goes for any item. We had IE, Bloodthirster, Last Whisper (og), Will of the Ancients, Spirit of Elder Lizard, PD, Sunfire, Atmogs, Cleaver, Ardent and Athenes metas,” one Redditor comments, referring to the lack of changes from the Mythic system.
They continue their explanation:
“Mythics didn’t change anything in that regard. I would honestly say they’ve relieved the situation a bit by making builds less raw stat competitions.”
