The New England Patriots are adding to their pass rush by re-signing a familiar face. Outside linebacker Trey Flowers is returning to Foxborough, Massachusetts after a workout with the Pats. There is no word on the length or monetary details of the deal at time of writing, but it’s a safe assumption that it’s a one-year contract.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Flowers was drafted in the fourth round (101st overall pick) by the New England Patriots out of Arkansas. He played with the team for four full seasons, which included two Super Bowl victories. Most recently, he played with the Dolphins in 2022, being placed on injured reserve in October of that season.
In those four games in 2022, Flowers recorded four combined tackles (one solo, three assisted). His career high in sacks came in 2018 (his previous last year with the Pats), in which he had 7.5, and also a career-high 62 combined tackles.
